Many people do not realize the importance the bitch plays in a breeding program. A puppy, or any dog for that matter, is composed of genes of which 50% are from the male and 50% from the female. Unfortunately, people interested in buying puppies choose a puppy primarily on who the stud dog is, not really giving the quality of the bitch much thought. This is a grave mistake (one that I have made) because a stud dog, regardless of the caliber, cannot compensate for a poorly bred bitch. Most people that buy a puppy based on the stud dog tend to be disappointed as the puppy matures. This is why I place importance on excellent quality females in my breeding program. Anyone can breed to an exceptional stud dog, but not everyone has invested in a quality bitch. This is what sets us apart -- quality stud dogs bred to exceptional bitches.
